Now and Then – Guest Post by Amanda Carol

I am going to be introducing you to a variety of bloggers that I’ve been enjoying for a while.  My calendar is getting packed with the preparation and move (from Phoenix to Austin).  To my delight, other bloggers have come to my rescue!  They have offered to guest post for me between now and the end of the year.  So, though this is still my blog, you will hear from a lot of others during that time.  And, believe me, it will be a treat!

First up is one of my favorite bloggers and interior designers, Amanda Carol.  Her home is gorgeous.  Today she is going to share a little about how her taste has changed over the years.  We are all ever evolving when it comes to design.  Tastes change and hopefully we also get better at what we do.   I love to see “then and nows” from designers.   Welcome, Amanda!

Hello Hyphen Interior readers. I am so excited to be guest posting here today.  I found Kristy’s blog several months ago and it quickly became one of my favorites. I was even more excited to learn that Kristy and I grew up not too far from one another- its a small world!

Today I am going to share a little “Then and Now”- my dining room.  9 years ago when we first moved into our home I was itching to get something painted.  My dining room was my first target- and let me tell you-I took that literally and painted the room RED.  Deep, dark, tuscan red accented with lots of gaudy gold. But I will say- gold is making its comeback-so don’t dis it.

And here it is today- and Im going to be honest-Im still tweaking it (does it really ever end?)

I would say over the past 2 to 3 years my style has been moving towards lighter- neutral colors.  I have slowly removed all the “room dander” (all those little what-nots that clutter up a room) and I am much more organized.

I love that term, “room dander.”  Thanks so much for sharing, Amanda.  What a gorgeous dining room!  I’m going to be pinning it.
