Painted Chair – In Dark Blue

As people send photos of chairs they’ve painted following my tutorial, I try to share a few so my readers who are considering painting fabric can have good examples.

Ashley at Attempts at Domestication painted a chair.  Here is the before and after.

Pretty big difference!  And, don’t you love the oil rubbed bronze legs?  Still dark, yet contemporary.

Every painted chair must go through an ugly stage where you fear you made a huge mistake.  Here is Ashley’s chair in that stage.

Be sure to check it out on her blog!

  1. Thanks so much for the feature Kristy! :)

  2. Kristy, Can you paint lampshades as well? I spray painted a shade once and it took on a gritty finish. Do you know of another way to accomplish that? My shade was not the hard kind but a gathered muslin. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

    • I haven’t done it, but a couple of readers have and it seemed to work with this same method, on tight fabric. I think anything gathered, especially muslin would be very difficult to paint.
